THE ONLY MAN EVER TO SERVE AS A PLAYER, COACH, MANAGER, GENERAL MANAGER, AND BROADCASTER IN THE STORIED HISTORY OF THE FRANCHISE, JOE ALTOBELLI'S #26 IS ONE OF THE ONLY THREE NUMBERS RETIRED BY THE ROCHESTER RED WINGS. A CHARTER INDUCTEE TO THE RED WINGS HALL OF FAME, JOE MANAGED SIX SEASONS, WINNING TWO GOVERNORS' CUP CHAMPIONSHIPS IN 1971 AND 1974, AS WELL AS A JUNIOR WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1971. HIS 502 WINS ARE THE MOST EVER BY A RED WINGS MANAGER. AS A PLAYER HE HIT .265 WITH 47 HOME RUNS FROM 1963-66. IN 1983, HE MANAGED THE BALTIMORE ORIOLES TO A WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP. THIS PILLAR OF OUR COMMUNITY AND BASEBALL LEGEND, A MEMBER OF THE INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE HALL OF FAME, WILL FOREVER BE KNOWN AS ROCHESTER'S OWN "MR. BASEBALL".
